OSCEOLA, Wis. -- Bruce Evan Green, 63, of Osceola died Dec. 5, 2008, at Osceola Medical Center. He was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Plainview, Minn., to Phillip "Flip" and Jean Green.He was a former resident of West Fork. He was a 1963 graduate of Plainview High School and at age 15, he played a major role in running the family lumber business. He enjoyed fishing and football and was a member of Southside Bass Club. BELLA VISTA -- Clyde Sigel Stogsdill, 75, of Bella Vista died Dec. 5, 2008. He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Rockford, Ill., to Clyde S. Stogsdill Sr. and Bernice E. Westbrook Stogsdill.He served as a corporal in the Army. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and Roscoe, Ill., Lodge 75 as a Master Mason for 50 years. He was a volunteer fireman in Rockton, Ill., for 20 years and a member of Local 150 District 4 of Rockford for more than 50 years. He was an operating engineer on various construction jobs in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.He was preceded in death by his son, Jim.Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bertha R. Busker Stogsdill of Bella Vista; children, Melinda A. He was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Altoona, Kan., to William Edward and Lela May Hare Hixon.He was a Navy veteran. He worked for the Wichita Fire Department for 25 years before retiring and owned and operated Hixon Inc. in Wichita for several years. After moving to Eagle Rock, he became owner and operator of AMHS Inc. Storage and Custom Boat Dock Builders. He was a member of Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wichita, the Scottish Rite and Shell Knob Shrine Club.Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Eagle Rock. Edgar Allen Hardy, 43, of Springdale died Dec. 2, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Fayetteville.  He was born April 15, 1965 in Helena to Earl Edmund and Martha June Hardy. He served in the Air Force from 1984 to 1989 where he was trained as a medical technologist.  He spent 20 years in the laboratory field retiring from the Veteran’s Medical Center in Fayetteville in 2007.  He was a member of Gentry Lodge No. 222, F&AM of Arkansas. He was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Allen loved country music and was a Razorback fan. His father, Earl Edmund Hardy, preceded Allen in death.   He leaves his loving wife of 6 years Debra Ellen Gilbert Hardy of the home; his children Tristan Adam Hardy and granddaughter Geneviette of Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii; Danielle Nichole Self and husband Justin of Honolulu, Hawaii; Ian McGregor Gilbert of the home and twins Jillian Siobhan and Adrian Duncan Hardy of the home. He leaves his mother, Martha June Hardy of Bradford, and his brother, Lennon Michael Hardy and wife, Tammy of Boling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. and their 4 children. Johnson was born May 7, 1932 in Fort Smith to the late Lettie Knauls and John Johnson. He was the second oldest of seven children. He died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at his home. Jesus said, “well done, my good and faithful servant.” Johnson began his journey years ago to serve all mankind and he has diligently done so in his role as an educator, a civic leader and steward for the Lord. He served as a teacher and principal at C.V. White High School in Lake View for many years. Johnson’s memory, character and guidance will live on in the lives of his survivors, his wife, Ruth N. Johnson; two sons, Rodney (Stephanie) Johnson, of Nokesville, Va. and Patrick Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Kimberley Johnson of Jonesboro and Millicent Johnson of Helena-West Helena; grandchildren, Azariah, Kyla, Nicholaus and Alexis; a brother, Billy Johnson and a sister, Doris Cole, both of Fort Smith; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and cherished friends. Gaytan J. Saia, 88, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 in Abilene, Texas. Funeral Mass with Msgr. Fred Nawarskas officiating was held on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Holy Family Catholic Church. A private entombment will be held in Elmwood Memorial Park. Saia will be moved to the new Texas State Veterans Cemetery when it opens at a later date. Gaytan was born the son of Sam Saia and Grace Maggio Saia on June 27, 1920 in Helena where he grew up and graduated from high school. He joined the Navy on his 21st birthday and served until 1947, seeing the invasion of Okinawa in 1945 and witnessing atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll in July 1946. After two years away from the service, he enlisted in the Army in 1949 and served until 1963. In 1966 he was recalled to active duty for service in Vietnam and retired a second time in October 1969. Gaytan had accumulated a total of 24 years in service to our country. After his life in the military, Saia graduated from the University of Las Vegas and became a registered nurse. He worked several years at the El Paso State School and later came to Abilene after taking a position with PASSAR as a nursing home inspector. He was a member of DAV, the American Legion, VFW and NCOA and was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carol Saia of Abilene, Texas; two sons, Gaytan Saia Jr. and wife, Jeannette of Georgia and James Saia and wife, Amy of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Kitty Gelberd and husband, Morton of Florida; three stepsons, Anthony Lally and wife, Mary of Hawthorn Wood, Ill., Thomas Lally and wife, Kathy of Romeoville, Ill. and Timothy Lally and wife, Monica of Aurora, Ill.; five sisters, Florine Walters, Sister Grace Saia, SCN, Virginia Egan and husband, Leo, Joy Hibbard and husband, Pete, and Agnes Smith and husband, J.T.; 16 grandchildren, Dory, Jake, Jana, Luke, Riley, Brandon, Emory, Cody, Maggie, Sam, Stacy, Lisa, Tommy, T.J. Ryan and Paul. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Rescue the Animals.

VELMA LOIS KALE PRICE

Velma Lois Kale Price of Helena-West Helena died after a brief illness on Dec. 3, 2008.  She was born to the late Sandy and Luvenia Walker Kale on June 4, 1920 in West Helena. Price joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.  The church and its work became an integral part of her childhood and the activities of her adult life. Price married Joseph Harry Price, Sr. in January 1938 in West Helena.  That same year, Velma joined Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in West Helena where her husband, Joseph, was a member. In 1939, Joseph was called to the ministry.  Her husband, the late Rev. J. H. Price, Sr. preceded her in death. Mrs. Price learned what it was like to struggle, but she knew that through God, all things were possible.  She pulled many cotton sacks and chopped in the cotton fields to help support her family.  She also worked as a domestic during the early years.  She worked at Westside Elementary School in the Helena-West Helena School District as a custodian for about 11 years and the cafeteria for 20 years. She was the president of the Westside Elementary Parent Teachers Association for 10 years.  She always took time to check on her children when they were in school.  If a teacher said that he or she was having trouble with them, Mrs. Price did not spare the rod.  She knew that the Bible states, “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; But the rod of discipline drives it far from him”: Proverbs 22:15.  Her children affectionately called her “Muddear”. Mrs. Price served on the trustee board, stewardess board, as a member of the choir, worked with missionaries and served as head of the program committee at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church for 20 years.  She was a faithful member of Allen Temple for 70 years.  She also served religious causes in the Helena-West Helena area by visiting other churches, whether they were Methodist, Baptist, or other denominations to accept welcomes, serve as mistress of ceremony and do readings or poems.  She continued to support Allen Temple A.M.E. Church even after her health began to fail on Oct. 31, 2008. Mrs. Price was named Outstanding Woman of the Twin Cities (Helena-West Helena) by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in 1976 for the many positive contributions she made to her community.  She was well known and respected throughout the community.  Mrs. Price enjoyed singing, cooking, sewing, working in her garden, reading and reciting poetry.  She also was an avid wrestling fan. She was a member of Victory Church in Springdale and was a retired nurse.She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leonard Juckett, grandson, Keith Henderson and great-grandson, William Morris.Survivors include her sister, Opal Juckett of Springhill; brothers, William Hudson of Shreveport, La., James Hudson of Sulpher, La.; sister, Eva Lurlene Williams of Hemet, Calif.; daughter, Velma Jean Henderson of Springdale; sons, William Juckett and wife Brenda of Kingsland, Steven Juckett and wife Estelle of Houma, La., Ray Juckett and wife Ann of Alpena, Mark Juckett and wife Tammy of Huffman, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Bailey Mortuary Chapel in Springhill. The Rev. Billy Coffman will officiate. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to SonLight Orphanage in Kandy, Sri Lanka, c/o Victory Church, P.O. Funeral services for Willie Bernice Barner, 61, of Denver, Colo. and formerly of Holly Grove, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Pine City. Rev. Isaac Holland will officiate. Burial will be in Pine City Cemetery. Barner, born May 15, 1947 to Jack and Cassie Mae Barner in Holly Grove, died Nov. 29, 2008 in Denver with her family by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Gertie Jones of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary Barner of Denver and Alma Flowers of Wichita, Kansas; and a host of relatives and friends. William Jacob Barner

ROGERS -- William Jacob Barner, 87, of Rogers died Dec. 5, 2008, at Rogers. He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, to William Barner and Helen Scharra Barner.He was an Army veteran. He was a telephone advertising manager and a member of the Episcopal Church and Kiwanis Club.Survivors include his son, Brad Whitewolf of Eureka Springs; three grandchildren.Cremation arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.
