Funeral services for Brenda (Giles) White, 52, of Helena and formerly of Rondo, will be held noon Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at the Friendship M.B. Church in Rondo with Rev. Nathanial Hull Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery also in Rondo.  White was born Jan. 25, 1956 in Lexa to the late Martha Bailey.  She confessed a hope in Christ at age 11 at the Friendship M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member in the youth choir as well as youth choir director.  She was a kind-hearted person who had a natural sense of humor that could be attributed to her mother, the late Martha Bailey and her grandmother, the late Ophelia Bailey Williams, who shared in the delight of raising her.  Both preceded her in death. She was a 1975 graduate of Barton High School and attended the Arkansas Rehab Center in Hot Springs where she learned the skill of upholstering.  She was employed at several places doing upholstery and later opened the Superior Upholstery Shop in Marianna until she became ill.  She later became a resident of Crestpark Intermediate Nursing Facility where she resided for 10 years. She was married in 1983 to Henry Charles White and to their union a child was born who preceded Brenda in death.  Sister Brenda White died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Helena Regional Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Henry Charles White of Marianna; two stepdaughters, Gina White and Patricia White, both of Memphis; mother-in-law, Sarah White; three loving siblings, Helen (Nathaniel) Hull of Rondo, La Verne (Stan) Sims of Fairfax, Va. and Dr. Thomas (Debra) Bailey of Lexa; two sisters-in-law, Elvira Williams and Ada Jordan, both of Memphis; an aunt, Betty Henderson of Rondo; an uncle, Russell (June) Bailey of Gary, Ind.; three nieces, Tammy (D.L.) Richardson of Little Rock, Natalie Hull of Rondo and Vanessa Bailey of Lexa; seven nephews, Stan Hull, Nathanial Hull, Jr., (Laterria) of Hughes, Cory (Jennifer) Sims, D.J. Wilson James.He was an assistant wrestling coach at Gentry and was a four time state champion wrestler in Colorado and well as a three time national champion wrestler. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Gentry. SPRINGDALE -- Florence Edna Hockel of Springdale died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville on Nov. 21, 2008, at age 86. She was born in Philadelphia on July 29, 1922, the younger daughter of John G. Schrott and Florence E. Schrott.She joined the U.S. Navy Waves in April 1943, rose to the rank of chief storekeeper and was discharged August 1946. She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing and needlepoint. She also was an avid reader and a member, officer of St. Raphael Church Senior Club.Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Albert of the home; two sons, Robert of Fayetteville and Thomas of Long Beach, Calif.; a niece, Nancy Wolf; and nephew, William Wolf, both of California.Holy Mass and recitation of the Rosary will be offered at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. She was born in Waukesha, Wis., on Jan. 30, 1931, to Reed Wilson and Hazel Marie (Dodrill) Wade.She was the manager and bookkeeper for Ace Hardware Store in Newton, Kan., for many years. She enjoyed being with her family, traveling and knitting. She was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock, Mo., and the Rebekah Lodge of Odd Fellows in Kansas.She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Horace Wright; two sons, Mark Wright and wife Debbie of Canyon Creek, Mont., and Bill Wright and wife Vicki of California; and three grandchildren.Funeral services were held Sunday in All Faith United Methodist Church, Eagle Rock, Mo., under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo. WINSLOW -- Hugh E. "Slick" Caudle, 79, of Winslow died Nov. 22, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Slick was born on Dec. 4, 1928, at Mill Creek to Samuel Issac and Allie Goff Caudle.He retired from Campbell Soup Company after 41 years and had worked on his farm ever since. He was an accomplished artist in woodcarving and bronze works and was a member of the Lincoln Woodcarver's Club. He was active in the First Covenant Church in Lincoln for many years and later attended Lincoln Bercan Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Gronquist, and son, Jerry J. She was born May 27, 1913, in Cotton Plant to Jonas Franklin Dyson and Vivian Russell Dyson.She graduated from Cotton Plant High School in 1931, attended the University of Arkansas, majoring in music and moved to Newport. There she met her husband of 57 years, Robert "Bob" Zoel Wilkinson. Lurodine worked for many years for Arkansas Power & Light. She and Bob moved to Rogers in 1965. Until retirement in 1976, they were co-owners of AMO Electrical Supply and Lighting Co., with Lurodine working in the lighting fixture showroom.She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the Willing Workers Sunday school class and the Women's Esther Circle, serving as treasurer for many years.Lurodine, known affectionately as "Granny," had a special touch on peoples' lives. She loved being with people and making them the focus of the conversation. She was wise in her advice, quick-witted, and gracious. Always putting others feelings before her own, she was kind and gentle-hearted, slow to anger and quick to praise.Lurodine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Wilkinson.Survivors include her two daughters and one son-in-law, Kaye Harris and John Harris of Rogers and Vivian Dunnaway of Rogers; and four grandchildren, Jill Montgomery Vaughan and husband Mike, Jessica Dunnaway, Jonas Dunnaway and Alyson Dunnaway; and one great-grandson, Zoel Robert Vaughan, all of Rogers.Private burial will be held today. She was not afraid of getting dirty, and wrestling with her brothers was a favorite pastime.
