Green was born Jan. 13, 1959 in Mississippi to John and Lizzie Palmer.  She was a member of the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ. She died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2008. Funeral services for Brenda (Giles) White, 52, of Helena and formerly of Rondo, will be held noon Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at the Friendship M.B. Church in Rondo with Rev. Nathanial Hull Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery also in Rondo.  White was born Jan. 25, 1956 in Lexa to the late Martha Bailey.  She confessed a hope in Christ at age 11 at the Friendship M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member in the youth choir as well as youth choir director.  She was a kind-hearted person who had a natural sense of humor that could be attributed to her mother, the late Martha Bailey and her grandmother, the late Ophelia Bailey Williams, who shared in the delight of raising her.  Both preceded her in death. She was a 1975 graduate of Barton High School and attended the Arkansas Rehab Center in Hot Springs where she learned the skill of upholstering.  She was employed at several places doing upholstery and later opened the Superior Upholstery Shop in Marianna until she became ill.  She later became a resident of Crestpark Intermediate Nursing Facility where she resided for 10 years. She was married in 1983 to Henry Charles White and to their union a child was born who preceded Brenda in death.  Sister Brenda White died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Helena Regional Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Henry Charles White of Marianna; two stepdaughters, Gina White and Patricia White, both of Memphis; mother-in-law, Sarah White; three loving siblings, Helen (Nathaniel) Hull of Rondo, La Verne (Stan) Sims of Fairfax, Va. and Dr. Thomas (Debra) Bailey of Lexa; two sisters-in-law, Elvira Williams and Ada Jordan, both of Memphis; an aunt, Betty Henderson of Rondo; an uncle, Russell (June) Bailey of Gary, Ind.; three nieces, Tammy (D.L.) Richardson of Little Rock, Natalie Hull of Rondo and Vanessa Bailey of Lexa; seven nephews, Stan Hull, Nathanial Hull, Jr., (Laterria) of Hughes, Cory (Jennifer) Sims, D.J. Sims of Fairfax, Va., Trey Bailey and Jonathan Bailey, both of Jonesboro and Jordan Bailey of Lexa and a host of other relatives and friends.  Brown’s Home for Funeral’s Inc., will direct services.

NEOSHO, Mo. -- Bobby Gene Duncan, 78, died Nov. 27, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Hiwasse to James Blaine and Ellen Jameson Duncan.He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a gate guard for 34 years at Eagle Picher in Joplin, Mo. He was a volunteer for the Help Center for many years.He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Duncan, on Jan. 14, 2005.Survivors include four children, Allen "Elmer" Duncan and Russell Duncan, both of Neosho, Buddy Ibison of Onalaska, Texas, and LaWanna Gillming of Oakhurst, Texas; four brothers, Ivan Duncan and Wilburn Duncan, both of Decatur, J.D. Duncan of Blackwell, Okla., and Kenny Duncan or Rogers; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Neosho with Myrna Marble officiating. She leaves three sons, Charles Moon and his wife, Glenda Faye, of Harrisburg, George Webster Jr. and wife, Pat, of Helena and Todd Hudman and wife, Amy, of Poplar Grove; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, George Webster Sr. and two daughters, Shirley Morgan and Barbara Raines, preceded her in death.  


 


 

Charles Albert Wentworth 

BELLA VISTA -- Charles Albert Wentworth, 83, of Bella Vista and San Diego died Nov. 25, 2008, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on Jan. 17, 1925, in San Diego to Charles Benjamin and Elizabeth Wentworth. After graduating from San Diego High School in 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Cummings battleship and received seven battle stars. He retired as chief of the Federal Fire Department in San Diego in 1978. He was a former state commander of the American Legion of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura in 1995 and his second wife, Norman in 2006.Survivors include two sons, Richard Shelly Wentworth of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Robert Charles Wentworth and wife Mary Ann of San Diego; two grandchildren.Services will be in San Diego at a later date. She was born April 14, 1918, in Marshall Town, Iowa, to William and Lora Atwood Whitehead. She married Lester T. Purdom Sr. on Feb. 16, 1951, in Bentonville. She graduated from high school in Springfield, Mo., and received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Peabody University in Tennessee. She worked at Barry County, Mo., Health Department for 25 years. She was a member of the Barry County Teachers Association and Registered Nurses Association. In 2002, she moved to El Dorado Springs to be close to her son, Richard, and his family.She was preceded in death by her husband, and a stepson, Lester Purdom Jr.Survivors include three sons, Billy Purdom and Marcy of Jacksonville, Miss., Robert Purdom of Cassville and Richard Purdom and wife, Jeannie of El Dorado Springs, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Clio Cemetery in Jenkins under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. James Dinwoodie Jr. 

BELLA VISTA -- James Schwartz Dinwoodie Jr., 85, died Nov. 19, 2008. He was born in Nora Springs, Iowa, on Sept. 5, 1923, to James and Ivy Dinwoodie.He grew up in St. Paul, Minn., and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering with postgraduate studies at Iowa State University.He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He worked 36 years with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring as corporate general planning engineer in 1981.He married Carolyn Linnerooth in 1947 in St. Paul, Minn. They retired in 1981 in Omaha, Neb., and moved to Bella Vista in 1983. He was active in golf, fishing, hunting, bridge, church and Shrine activities. He served from 1990 to 1994 on the Property Owners Association Board of Directors. James F. 'Jimmy' Ford 

FAYETTEVILLE -- James F. "Jimmy" Ford, 71, of Fayetteville died Nov. 27, 2008, at his home.He was born Feb. 15, 1937, in Russell County, Ala., the son of Henry and Frances Herring Ford.After receiving a doctorate in linguistics at Ohio State University, he continued his career as a professor of foreign language at the University of Arkansas. He taught language and linguistics and served as chairman of the department for 10 years before retiring in 1998. He was an accomplished songwriter and musician and had written and performed for many years throughout the country. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.He is survived by his wife, Mary W.
